Fashion Revolution Week 23rd-29th April at Sancho's.

What is Fashion Revolution?

"Fashion Revolution is a global movement that works for a more sustainable fashion industry, campaigning for a systemic reform of the industry with a special focus on the need for greater transparency in the fashion supply chain. Fashion Revolution works all year round to raise awareness of the fashion industry’s most pressing issues, advocate for positive change, and celebrate those who are on a journey to create a more ethical and sustainable future for fashion."

 Why is it important?

Much of the global fashion industry is opaque, exploitative and environmentally damaging and desperately needs revolutionary change. The aim of Fashion Revolution is to unite the fashion industry and ignite a revolution to radically change the way our clothes are sourced, produced and purchased. Collaborating across the whole supply chain; from farmer to consumer; is the only way to transform the entire industry. Fashion Revolution brings everyone together to make that happen and Sancho's is bringing this mission right here to Exeter.

  • 2 million people engaged with Fashion Revolution through events and posting on social media.
  • Over 113k people asking brands #whomademyclothes?

Fashion Revolution Week at Sancho'

At Sancho's we want to encourage more people to get involved in and around Exeter. We have curated a list of workshops and events from Monday 23rd April till Saturday 28th, to spread awareness of the 3 M's that need to change:

1 ) Model: The Business of Fashion: For the past decade, companies have seen rising costs, driven by rising labour, raw material and energy prices. Yet, despite the higher cost of making clothes, the price we pay for our clothing is cheaper than ever before. This system is not working, we believe that the whole fashion industry needs a radicle paradigm shift and that the we produce and consume clothes needs to be transformed.

 2) Material: People and Planet: The harsh reality is that basic health and safety measures do not exist for many people working in fashion's supply chains, 150 Billion items of clothing are delivered out of factories annually yet Americans alone throw away approximately 14 millions tonnes, the chemicals used to grow, dye launder and treat out clothes end up polluting rivers, these are all things that we believe need to change.

3) Mindset: Shifting the way we think: We need to break our addiction to the need for speed and volume. We need to realise the true cost of our cheap bargains. We need to buy less, buy better and keep asking questions about the realities behind what we are purchasing, we need to love the clothes that we already own more, and work harder to make them last. Once we've started to think like this, the change.

How can I get involved?

There are many ways you can be a Fashion Revolutionary. Use your voice and your power to make positive change.
