Hara is the Melbourne based underwear brand taking the ethical underwear industry by storm. Designed with you and the planet in mind, Hara create gorgeously soft and sustainable underwear. You guys loved their undies so much we wanted to share everything about this fabulous brand.

With bras and knickers made for all body shapes and sizes, their styles are sexy and practical, providing you with the support you need to go about daily life. Their mission as a label is to “bring change and awareness to the human and environmental issues within the fashion industry while creating dreamy bamboo underwear that’s both rejuvenating and empowering”.

While travelling India, founder Allie Cameron saw first-hand the devastating environmental impacts of plastic pollution and the fashion industry. After talking with local cotton farmers, Allie wanted to create change, and in 2016, Hara was founded.

Hara only use Bamboo fabric in their garments. This only requires rainwater, doesn’t require pesticides or fertilizers and grows fast and dense. This naturally maximises yields for farmers, produces 30% more oxygen and absorbs more carbon dioxide than trees. With all of these qualities, Bamboo is one of the most sustainable fabrics in the world (and it feels super soft on the skin).

In addition, every single piece Hara creates is naturally dyed. Plants like Turmeric, Indigo and Madder Root are used to make their gorgeous undie colours. Natural dyes reduce environmental impact as they are biodegradable. With an OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Certification, you can rest easy knowing there are no harmful chemicals at any stage of Hara’s production process.

The entirety of Hara’s production chain is in Melbourne. This allows them to be completely transparent and ensure that their high ethical standards are adhered to every step of the way. Hara go above and beyond the Australian Government requirements. Snacks are always available, time off is given whenever needed and breaks during work hours are given whenever needed.

Every single one of Hara’s pieces is made with love. Each stunning piece is helping to bring awareness to environmental injustice through their connection to Environmental Justice Foundation, reducing the fashion industry’s impact on the environment and improving people’s lives. Not to mention, they make you feel incredible.
