Our Top 5 Most Versatile Dresses

Our Top 5 Most Versatile Dresses

We pride ourselves on sourcing sustainably-made dresses that we want to wear every day, can also work for evenings, and be elevated for special occasions, like those Summer weddings and festivals.

Below you'll find our top 5 most versatile sustainable dresses, with ideas on different ways we would style them for every occasion or season.

Made from organic cotton, hemp or eco viscose, these dresses are all made from high quality sustainable materials that will feel comfortable, breathable and make you look great.

1. Caaitlin Midi Dress in Floral Print

This floaty lightweight dress is made from 100% Lenzing Ecovero Viscose that feels sleek and drapes beautifully. Nodding to the traditional tea-dress style, but with some modern updates like the front slit and larger somewhat abstract floral print, this dress is a super easy one to dress up or down. Keep it casual in warmer weather with a pair of white trainers, dress it up for a wedding by adding a heel or smart shoe and bag that pulls out one of the colours in the print, or take it out for dinner or an evening out with sandals, a red lip and some statement earrings. We'd also wear this in autumn/winter with thick tights, knee high or ankle boots and a chunky knit jumper over the top for a gorgeous layered look.

 2. Annabel Checked Dress in Yellow and White

This woven organic cotton dress with adjustable shoulder straps, midi length and flattering empire bodice which flows into a roomy skirt has a touch of old school 50s elegance about it. We love the yellow and white check and would wear this casually over a white t-shirt with trainers or sandals. For evening, or holidays, it would look great worn alone, but we think this could be dressed up beautifully with a crisp white shirt over top and tied at the waist, some elegant espadrille wedges or heels and a red lip. This dress would be great for a Summer wedding too, just add a shawl, comfortable but pretty heel or sandal, a coordinating clutch and some gold jewellery to lift the look.

 3. Dianella Organic Cotton Trapeze Dress in Black

This Dianella organic cotton trapeze dress is a flattering and fuss-free oversized dress you can easily just chuck on and go. Keep it simple for day and team with chunky sandals, sliders, or sneakers and a tote bag for a casual look or dress it up for night with an up-do to show off the sweet frilled neckline, some statement shoes to offset the simplicity of the dress and some big gold hoops to add a little sparkle. We'd wear this on holiday from beach to bar with a straw bag or hat and our favourite sandals. For autumn and winter, we'd team this lined dress with tights, boots and a sleeveless knitted tank top to give it a fresh new look that will keep you warm and help you get your wear out of this simple but effective dress.

4. Caroline Dress in Field Print

Shop Ethical and Sustainable Fashion at Sancho's

The Caroline Field Print Wrap Dress is an elegant maxi dress in a mood-lifting green print, with cape sleeves, pretty shoulder gathers and a skirt that flares to a gentle A line from the waist. Made from floaty sustainable Tencel Lyocell, this dress will flatter a whole range of bodies due to it's wrap-style which compliments, elevates and creates shape. This dress can totally be dressed down for day to day with trainers and you could even add a cap. For evenings we would let the dress do the talking and team with a smarter shoe, and for a wedding, we see this being elevated with bold colourful accessories, such as some coloured statement earrings and a bright bag and shoes either in a colour that is featured in the print such as yellow, or in a clashing colour that still works with the green such as a bright pink. The floral print and fresh colours might not traditionally take you through winter, but we see this being worn through Autumn with navy or yellow chunky cardigans, boots and an oversized scarf.

 5. Patricia Shibori Dress in Black

Shop ethical Sustainable Fashion at Sancho's

This organic cotton Patricia Shibori print dress has a soft feel that will be a delight to wear. It's weighty enough to hang beautifully, but not so heavy you can't wear it in the heat. We love this alone with trainers or sliders and a straw bag for day. It can be worn for evening or the office with a black, cream or brown blazer over top, some smart brogues, heels or ankle boots in either tan or black to reflect the colours in the print and a smart cross-body bag. To dress this up for a wedding, we recommend some statement shoes and layers of subtle beaded necklaces to lift it. We'd take this dress into autumn and winter with the addition of a slim fit polo neck underneath in black, white, or a contrasting colour, or wear it with a vintage or vegan leather jacket, tights, and chunky ankle boots.
